Fully refined paraffin wax ( abbr.FR paraffin wax ), also known as refined white wax, is obtained from petroleum wax as raw material by sweating or solvent deoiling, and then by clay refining or hydrofining.

 

Its chemical composition is mainly n-alkanes and its relative density increases with the increase of melting point. The product has a high melting point, low oil content, no binding, sweating, and greasy feeling at normal temperature, and good waterproof, moisture-proof, and electrical insulation. Due to the deep refining degree, the content of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons is low. It has good chemical stability, light and heat stability, strong toughness, good plasticity, white color, no mechanical impurities and moisture, and no odor. Fully refined paraffin is soluble in benzene, ether, chloroform, carbon disulfide, carbon tetrachloride, turpentine, petroleum, and fixed oil.

 

The oil content of fully refined paraffin is not more than 0.8%, the refining degree is higher than that of semi-refined paraffin, and the color is lighter than that of semi-refined paraffin. The melting point of No. 58 FR paraffin wax is 58 ℃ - 60 ℃, and that of No. 60 FR paraffin wax is 60 ℃ - 62 ℃.
